I bought my MBP in the summer, and I don't regret it at all. It's a fantastic machine with superb battery life. If you don't currently have a proper computer to hold you over for the next few months, just get it now. You won't regret it. Don't fall for the same nonsense the bleeding edge people do.
@Kaiser-Machead: If your iffy about the price of the machines you can get great deals in the refurbished lines. Just go to the store link and you will find the refurbs in the lower left. My first laptop was a Powerbook g4 that I bought in 2004 and I got almost 6 years out of it (just got a new MBP about a month ago)
A) A cheapass contract phone which while not having a huge amount of minutes has unlimited texting and 3G internet as well as free calls to anyone on the same provider.
B) Has Skype and facebook integrated. Skype is a big draw for me as I can talk to most people I know on it.
I was thinking of getting an iPhone but eh it's not that worthwhile. Don't get me wrong it's still a great phone but you can do a similar job with an iPod Touch and a 3G mifi for a lot less money which is what I'm doing instead.
Depends how much you value a compass, GPS and a camera. Out of those I think I'll only miss the camera and only barely.
If I do pick up a proper smartphone when my contracts up I'll probably go android. I couldn't justify an iPhone after purchasing a 3rd Gen iPod Touch.
One of the last remaining WWI veterans died the other day. he was 96, i believe. when asked about his longevity, and what enabled him to live for so long, he replied "cigarettes, whiskey, and wild women".
cigarettes are bad for some people, not so bad for others. I've been smoking for 8 or 9 years now, and have no diminished lung capacity. I can walk 30 miles in a day without slowing, and i dont really exercise. I can eat a pound of bacon in one sitting, and yet i'm still in good shape. i have ridiculously low blood pressure and i very rarely get sick.
then there are total pussies who can't deal with cold temperatures, with allergies out the yin yang, and a whole other miriad of health problems. they are the kind of people who should not smoke. but there exist many many people who, for whatever reason, are not adversely affected by tobacco products.
i know this is slightly OT since this isn't about smoking itself, but it always needs to be said: the current propaganda on smoking is just that: propaganda. it is simply a small step towards controlling more and more personal aspects of our lives in the name of 'public health'.
